I found my Aunt Melinda’s recipe for Cherry Delight. I thought this was going to be a dump cake. It actually looks like a cheese cake type dessert. I will be making this for our Christmas in Big Sandy this year. Let’s see if she knows it’s her recipe.
First I have to research and find out what is dream whip, I need two packs. LOL.
It was a disaster. I am updating the recipe below. The dream whip OMG! There were no instructions on mixing dream whip per box and then adding, so I dumped the dream whip packets into the cream cheese. Can you picture playdough dried out?
Once this was corrected, the next day and I started baking the crust, another OMG, is this recipe right? I called my cousin who gave me the original recipe from Granny. The good thing with this recipe it said 2 prepared envelopes of dream whip. I wish I would have seen this or the cool whip.
We decided to change the temperature for the crust to 425, as you would cook a pie crust.
The second cherry delight I made was delicious. Next time I will be using cool whip, not dream whip.
Our Christmas is going to be on Saturday. This is leg day with the FASTer Way To Fat Loss, so I get to eat the dessert. Yeah!! Another reason we can incorporate dessert into our lifestyle is with intermittent fasting.
1 ½ cup flour
¾ cup of butter
2 Tbs sugar
½ cup pecans chopped
Mix butter into flour with a pastry blender. Add in sugar and pecans mix well.
Press mixture into a 9×13 baking dish. Bake at 425 degrees until lightly browned. About 20 minutes.
8 oz package of cream cheese
1 ½ cup of powdered sugar
2 envelopes of Dream Whip mixed per box instructions. (I will be using cool whip next time)
Mix the cheese and powder sugar
Fold in the dream whip
Pour onto crust
2 cans of cherry pie filling
Pour cherry pie filling over cheese filling
Chill at least 30 minutes
