Fighting the Good Fight

This basket ball goal has been hanging here for about 38 years, maybe more. I was walking around and drinking my coffee and thought it’s still there. I was also thinking this is usually the time I start looking for a cigarette and it has not crossed my mind, even on the 2 1/2 hour car ride home.

You may not understand this, but some of you will. You know that vice that you tell yourself, just one, it helps calm my nerves. Some people use cigarettes, some alcohol and some sweets. This past week has been a roller coaster of emotions for our family with mom’s battle. I want to tell you God is so good.

You’re still here.

You’re still standing.

You’re still hanging on.

You’re still fighting the good fight.

Each day is your day to make the choices for a healthier lifestyle, a positive mindset, the heart and faith to follow God’s plan and purpose.

Are you holding onto too tight?

Have you learned you can’t white knuckle life, habits, nutrition, and relationships? It’s like cracking an egg into your cupped hand. The egg will sit gently (my visual it is) in the cupped hand. Now, squeeze it hard and what happens? The egg runs out from between your fingers and hand.

Life can be like this with your multitasking, running your home, work, chores, family schedules and all the rest you are in charge of. If you are holding on too tight your stress level may be on the rise.

This can lead to cortisol levels that are not healthy, bad eating habits and poor sleep. Plus many more health risks. Here is a great article explaining cortisol in Healthline.

Take that deep breath and exhale. Where does God want you and where are you needed? I was needed home.

If you loosen your grip and loosen your control, God is ready for you to ask for help.  So stop, pause and pray.

He has your plans and people ready to BE placed into your life, if only for a season or a chapter.  You heart, eyes and ears must be open for His directions. You must let go and know you are not alone; ask for help.

Divide up the chores, responsibilities, take time for de stressing, meditation, time with God, and find those positive people in your life, who will lift you up when you need to be lifted and supported.

Keep fighting the good fight of faith. Keep showing up for yourself, your family and your purpose.

God wants you to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.

1 Timothy 6:12. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Learning to live in the present and moment will help you keep your daily goals. Looking to far ahead can create an overwhelming feeling.

The FASTer Way To Fat Loss has helped me look inward at the mindset of a positive attitude, nutrition first, rest, then workouts. Learning this lifestyle showed me progress, not perfection, self grace and it is helping me fulfill my purpose God has planned for me. XO Cheryl
